Greetings and salutations.
Welcome to The Convention Database, a collection of genre conventions and workshops where one can search to find a place to have fun with like-minded individuals.
I’m an author who enjoys going to cons and sitting on panels, working with other authors, and even hawking my latest batch of books in the vendor rooms. When I started looking around at the other convention listing sites, I noticed they only had a hundred or so listings — and some of those were for long-retired events. Digging around on the Internet, I found a few more cons near me. Then I did something really stupid. I began to research to find all of the conventions I could locate with my Google-Fu instead of working on my next writing project. When I was done, I had a listing of over 600 events.
After I got over feeling silly for going down that rabbit hole, I realized I just put a lot of time and effort into creating a list that can be useful to convention attendees…plus my fellow authors and panelists. From that, the idea for ConDB was hatched.
The events are listed here for others to locate conventions near them or even by type. Otakus might be after anime-themed conventions, while others might be more inclined to hang out wearing tweed and discussing books at a literary con.
It’s going to take a while to get the gigantic list added, but once it is transferred it should be a good resource for the convention-starved folks. In the meantime, feel free to look around and giggle at the stuff that still needs work.
When my list is done, I will post an announcement. After that, I would appreciate it if you would send me info about a new (not a recurring and already on my list) con I missed. If I add your information, I will also add a note thanking you for the data and adding a link to your website.
I hope you enjoy your visit.
